The Pipeline – February 6th, 2010
This week brought us lots of exciting news for software coming soon to Wii. Sonic The Hedgehog 4 is looking to have a chance of returning Sonic to his roots. New DLC in Animal Crossing City Folk is on it’s way. Tournament of Legends has been announced exclusively for Wii, and lots more! To celebrate the Sonic news we’re filming from Green Hill Zone this week. See if you can spot Sonic in tonight’s episode! Tbh Josh, I don’t like watching vids here because it takes TOO long for vids to cache (compared to youtube)
If you’re on a high speed internet connection you should not be having issues with load times for these videos. Try viewing them in Medium or Low quality.
load times of this video is superior compared to utube preview! (at least for me)
Josh, just so you know. I’m watching on a FiOS connection with wifi and I average about 7-8Mbps.
On Youtube the videos ran nice and smooth but now they’re jerky and the picture lags behind the sound. I’m pretty sure it’s not my connection.

That sounds like an issue with your computer, not your connection. This player uses higher-quality video, which might be a problem on older hardware, or certain browsers.

Next week you could talk about about Blaster Master Overdrive, the newest game for WiiWare. Looks amazing.
Pretty snazzy Sonic 4 Title Screen mock-up there Josh! All it needed was Sonic running across it and it’d be perfect methinks [though I didn't think you cared much for him?]
The title screens in alot of games these days are pretty bland and static to me [coming off my new games in Endless Ocean 2 and Crystal Bearers anyway], same with instruction manuals not being as arty and humorous anymore [the DKC manuals anyone?], so I never read ‘em.
But I digress… The de Blob 2 news was coolio, though the saving system really kinda puts me off going back to my incomplete de Blob game, so I hope that’s fixed at least. Would’ve liked a Deadly Creatures 2 moreover personally [cos I actually beat the first game and loved it, minus the rushed ending job], but oh well.
The Red Steel 2 artwork video really made this junior illustrator envious – but I’m looking forward to my pre-ordered copy of the game nevertheless [and I'm not even one for FPS games, outside of Timesplitters]. Great to see some games [and Wii games in particular] Wii games actually going way step further and not just rehashing stuff.
Despite its obvious young kids factor, that WiiWaa game looks pretty interesting as well to be honest!
Well rambling aside, a great snippet of the week [just missing the new pokemon unveil] Josh.

When we first got the Wii and set up AC, we didn’t have wireless access. Therefore, WiiConnect24 option does not show up on my daughters phone now. How do I activate it?? Thanks.

Try having her talk to Copper at the front gate of her town. Tell him you want a friend code. Then check to see if the WiiConnect24 option shows up on the phone.

Hey, Josh… I checked the hat for the japanese AC, and it is not just a crazy. It is a kind of hat that japanese people use in some kind of religious celebration. I don’t know much more about. I know this bacause I’ve seen this hat in several animes, and always in religious festivals.
I love the fact that they’re releasing the new Sonic game. I’m not thrilled with the idea of episodes, but if they’re long enough then I won’t be too upset. Either way, can’t wait to see what they do with this.
I’m still as unsure about Tournament of Legends as I was before the name change. The idea is a pretty good one, we’ll just have to see how it turns out in the end.
I really enjoyed de Blob, and am very curious about the sequel. The only thing I’m wondering is if they’ll be able to add enough to warrent a sequel. Loved the ideas of the original, but not sure how much it would stand up to a second without many changes and additions.
I love The Simpsons, though I haven’t seen some of the more recent episodes (after it came back from the winter break). Hopefully I’ll be able to see this episode sometime, because it seems like that story could have some good material for jokes.
Overall, great week for Wii news, a lot more than I actually realized. Great job covering all of it in this video. Looking forward to seeing future episodes of The Pipeline.
My friend told me about this new Legend of Zelda game that might come out on the Wii.. Is this true?
Some news for you Sonic and Mario fans. Apparently there is going to be a “green hill planet” in super mario galaxy 2, with sonic appearing in it! This isn’t just a random rumour made up by some person who has nothing to do with nintendo, but its actually coming from NGamer magazine! Google it!
Nah, that’s just a rumor.
Still could happen. My theory is he’ll be the “Koopa the Quick” of the game (if hes in – you’re right about it just being a rumour)

Then the clock on your computer is set wrong… it finished midnight on the 9th.
Countdown’s on the site are not counting down to the content we provide but rather the launch of the game in stores. The SMB:SR countdown finished at midnight on the 9th.
